The History of Basavin & Co

The history of Basavin & Co dates back to 1915 when they established themselves in the Tsarist village of Romanovca and was the first vineyard in the area to have two horse drawn grape presses.

The unique climate conditions of the Steppe area allowed vine-growers and wine-makers to progress considerably and began producing as early as 1939.

By this time, a new wine vault accommodating 1000 decilitres with two electric pumps that would equip the crushers.

In 1969, new technology in winery was introduced and today’s wine-making in the Tsarist village, Romanovca-Basarabeasca – is a stable process producing high-quality wines using Basavin & Co’s most up-to-date equipment and technology. The quality of the grapes grown is controlled stringently and has the production capacity of 15,000 tons per season.

Basavin & Co’s Agro Industrial complex and advanced technology gave rise to magnificent wines which have been marked by Awards, Diplomas and Medals at numerous International exhibitions and closed red-carpet tasting ceremonies.

It is this quality that paved the way for the wines to be successfully introduced into the markets of the Russian Federation, Poland, German, USA, Slovenia, Romani, Israel, Latvia and now the UK.
